Firmware Engineer

Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK

We are looking for a driven Firmware Engineer to join the EDMI UK Development team in designing and developing the platform firmware used in EDMI’s Smart Metering Product range. Supporting the Test Engineers and Software Director, you will be given responsibility from day one and start working on live projects to apply your existing knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full life cycle development on the smart metering range including design, maintenance, configuration management and peer code inspection
  • Developing and maintaining firmware platform components including RTOS, Drivers, Encryption engines, Communication Stacks and Metering Engines
  • Understanding secure coding techniques to ensure the product range meets the required industry standard for the relevant certifications and approvals

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • A degree or higher in a relevant subject
  • 5 -10 years of Embedded C programming
  • Good working knowledge of embedded RTOS
  • Previous experience of low level embedded processor/microcontroller
  • Previous experience and knowledge of secure coding, MISRA

Change and Release Manager

Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK

We are looking for an experienced Change and Release Manager to provide a single point of contact between internal departments and external suppliers and to be responsible for coordinating all change and release management functions with EDMI.

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and update the Change and Release management plan
  • Work as a subject matter expert for Change and Release management functions
  • Own and govern the Change & Release process by instilling best practice policies and procedures and measuring compliance
  • Proactive anticipation and mitigation of change challenges and risks
  • Coordinate with all necessary internal and external parties to perform Change building, testing and implementation and review to ensure they have met their objectives
  • Publish testing and deployment plans, conduct release plan reviews and participate in release control gates
  • Produce regular and accurate management reports on KPIs and SLAs that could impact the Change and Release management function

Experience and Qualifications

Wireless Firmware Engineer

Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK

We are looking for an action oriented Wireless Firmware Engineer to join the EDMI UK Development team in designing and developing the wireless firmware used in EDMI’s Smart Metering Product range. Supporting the Software Director, Development team colleagues and System Test Engineers, you will be given responsibility from day one and start working on live projects to apply your existing knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full life cycle development on the EDMI Smart Metering product range including, but not limited to, design, maintenance, configuration management peer code inspection & task creation and tracking
  • You will hold responsibility for developing and maintaining the wireless technologies used in the EDMI Smart Metering range including stack and application code
  • Participating and leading in interoperability testing and test events

Product Design Engineer Intern

Work Location: Hook, UK

We are looking for a motivated self-starter and is looking to gain Consumer Product (Industrial) design experience in the emerging IoT industry. Working alongside a Product Designer, you will gain experience in all aspects of the design process. Learning on the job and through shadowing, you will primarily be responsible for creating and delivering our Consumer Access Device (CAD) for manufacturing however there is also scope to provide input and original concept designs for new products being introduced.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing CAD drawings for manufacturing
  • Developing the mechanical design of products
  • Creating 3D print concepts to aid in the design & development process
  • Aid in CMF selection
  • May also include developing new concepts and introducing new products
  • Assisting in app development

Essential Experience and Qualifications

Business Development Manager for Sweden/Nordics

Work Location: Home Based, Sweden/Nordics

As part of our expansion plan across Europe, EDMI is looking for a driven and enthusiastic person to raise the profile of EDMI in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic countries in an exciting new role as Business Development Manager. In a home based role, you will use your selling, relationship development and influencing skills to position EDMI as the preferred manufacturer of metering and communications products.

Responsibilities

  • Working with numerous external Swedish & Nordic stakeholders you will be responsible for generating sales in the Swedish market and seeing these through
  • Responsible for executing the sales and country plan and developing customer strategies to drive revenue, profitability and growth/
  • Evaluating partner relationships with telecoms companies and SI’s in the market
  • Develop customer account strategies ensuring all downstream activities is appropriate
  • Work closely with others in the business on the creation and delivery of business development strategies
  • Participate in the development of new solution propositions & proposals and effectively communicating this through proposals and presentations to customers, their partners and the wider industry
  • Lead RFI/RFP/ITT response with the support of the UK Commercial Team

Quality and Information Security Manager

Work Location: Hook, UK

We are looking for an engaging, proactive self-starter to join our team as Quality and Information Security Manager. Supporting the Head of Quality, you will be responsible for ensuring that EDMI Europe Limited products and services provided are fit for purpose, consistent and meet both internal and external requirements, standards and regulatory compliance. This involves liaising with other managers and staff throughout the organisation to ensure that the integrated quality management system is functioning properly and where appropriate, advise on changes and how to implement them and provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the company’s quality management system and working practices to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards, regulatory requirements and customer contractual obligations.
  • Collect and analyse measurable data from the company’s core and supporting business processes to determine the effectiveness and suitability of the Integrated Quality Management System deployed.
  • Prepare and present quality reports, data and Key Performance Indicators to management for review at quality review meetings
  • Liaise with external parties and inter-company teams on matters relating to the quality management system and Information security initiatives
  • Maintain  the Integrated Quality System Dashboards and plan to review and monitor trends, and identify tasks which are critical to successful delivery of projects, products and services
  • Establish and conduct internal audits to assist in the application of best practice quality tools and techniques, process capability studies and statistical techniques as necessary to support continuous improvement.
  • Develop and write Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Process Flowcharts and Control Forms for functional departments within the organisation
  • Create Project Quality, Standards and Regulatory Plans for each new product development to identify and document how the company will achieve requirements that are specific to a project or contract, including which quality system processes are to be used

Experience and Qualifications

  • A degree is ideal, preferably in Engineering
  • Previous Quality Management Experience
  • Experience in auditing and implementing ISO9001 and ISO27001 systems
  • Ability to manage a complex, multi-phased project that develops and delivers a high quality technical product

Supply Chain Associate

Work Location: Hook, UK

We are looking for an action-orientated team member with excellent written communications and a drive for results to join the Supply Chain department in EDMI. Working with key external customers and suppliers, you will manage and challenge stakeholders, review, improve and implement processes and support with test assets and volume production deliveries whilst also providing supply purchasing support to the Supply Chain team.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for providing daily support to our customer Arqiva on Comms Hub test assets and volume productions
  • Lead on the co-ordination with supplier Flextronics with deliveries and general planning
  • Liaise with component suppliers and key stakeholders to provide purchasing support on new projects
  • Work with internal team members on developing and improving processes
  • Supply chain purchasing support in new project development

Experience and Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in Business or Finance discipline

Account Manager

Work Location: Newcastle, UK

We are looking for a driven, customer focused account manager with the ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team to join the EDMI Sales department. Working with key external customers and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for the development of small and medium sized retailer accounts with the relevant Meter Asset Provider (MAP) supporting and guided by the Senior Account Manager.

Initially, you will manage the integration and testing relationship ensuring successful delivery of service and support as customers begin their early phases of pilot and rollout. The role as Account Manager will evolve as the smart meter rollout continues to gather momentum, as you will begin to take responsibility for the development and implementation of the account to achieve the objectives, KPIs and service levels.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of the account plan and applications of tactics to deliver the agreed sales and profit targets for the account
  • Oversee the successful transition of Series A to Series B meters and the introduction of other meter variants
  • Directly lead account activity to develop the customer account at a senior relationship level and create corresponding relationships with internal EDMI colleagues to ensure an effective interface between both organisations
  • Monitor and report on the financial performance of the account, including the tracking and management of orders and deliveries
  • Identify and report on business opportunities and ensure the appropriate qualification of the opportunity in accordance to EDMI Sales Process
  • Support any RFI/RFP/ITT response with the support of Bid Management and the sales team
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations along with administration and management of the customer contacts
  • Oversee the delivery of reporting on a weekly/monthly basis against Service Levels and KPI, preparation of ad-hoc reports, papers and presentations for the client
  • Travelling to and from customer locations across the UK
  • Objectively monitor and report on the overall health of the customer relationship

Experience and Qualifications

  • Ideally educated to a Degree level with at least 5 years in the energy and/or manufacturing sector
  • Proven track record in Sales and achieving targets and objectives
  • Senior level experience of at least 5 years in selling and/or business development

Senior Electronics Engineer

Work Location: Hook, UK

We are looking for an organised and technically skilled team member to join the EDMI hardware team and play a key role in defining, designing, testing, validating and certifying EDMI products. Reporting to the Innovation Programme Director, you will be the owner of electronics designs and will be responsible for ensuring all requirements are filled.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly report to the Innovation Programme Director on the progress of the design and the associated risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
  • Interface with other members of the team, both internally & externally to discuss layout, testing and compatibility with the mechanical design.
  • You will be responsible for defining EDMI products including writing the hardware specification based on requirements, and interacting with different design teams and product managers about the specification
  • Designing EDMI products including drawing the schematic on our internal system, selecting components and liaising with the mechanical team for the PCB design
  • Testing EDMI products including delivering and implementing a test plan of all electronic designs, writing test reports, visiting UK labs for pre-compliance testing and validating and certifying products
  • This role may include travel in the UK to labs and abroad to EDMI factories

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in Electronics or related to Electronics
  • Previous experience of delivering products in an industrial/consumer electronic market
  • Knowledge in analog electronic design with experience in linear or switched-mode power suppliers, component selection, PCB technology and RF design
  • Experience in interfacing with suppliers and prototyping companies
  • Previous experience in certifying electronic/RF products for the European market (RED, LV, RoHS)

Electronic System Apprentice

Work Location: Hook, UK

We are looking for an ambitious and driven apprentice to support the EDMI Hardware team in delivering new products to the business. You will be able to take part in project development from the prototyping to supporting manufacturing. Reporting to the Innovation Programme Director, you will also hold responsibility for supporting the design of the product or assessing the delivery from our sub-contractors ensuring the product is fully tested and compliant with specifications and EDMI quality standards.

The successful candidate will be supported by EDMI Europe Limited to study for an Embedded Electronics (Top Up) BEng (Hons) Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Portsmouth.

As the work is in a technical environment, it is therefore required that the apprentice is able to understand products at a technical level in addition to weekly travel to the University of Portsmouth.

Responsibilities

  • Electronic Development including reviewing the PCB design (schematic, components, layout), preparing samples for manufacturing and testing and sourcing components
  • Delivery management and reporting including managing releases from sub-contractors, testing electronics, logging bugs when relevant, reporting progress of bug fixing on a regular basis and ensuring all requirements are tested and validated
  • Interfacing with other parts of the business including the Mechanical team, the Operations team to support with manufacturing and regular communication with the Supply Chain team

Experience and Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will hold either a HND, Foundation Degree or successful completion of two years of degree study in a relevant subject with a minimum overall grade of merit
  • Level 2 Maths/English (or minimum GCSE C Grade) with the ability to demonstrate this through an assessment.
